Discover the secrets of the forest

The Bon-Secours State Forest spans over 1,000 hectares. Located within the Parc Naturel des Plaines de l’Escaut Center, the Forest Halt gives you the keys to understanding it, all while having fun. With family, school groups, or clubs, explore our educational and fun spaces, then set off to experience the forest life-size.
The Forest Halt features three indoor and outdoor spaces filled with discoveries.
It is also an information hub to plan your outings and hikes, as well as a shop where you can purchase delicious local products

Explor'forêt

Interpretation center to understand the forest

Several thematic rooms unveil the secrets of the forest ecosystem. Mammals, birds, trees, and the tiny creatures of the leaf litter will hold no more secrets for you. In the mushroom room, you will find yourself shrunk to the size of an insect. Fascinating! Every year, Explor’Forêt hosts a new fun trail in the form of an interactive treasure hunt, created in collaboration with an artist.
Then, take a seat in our cinema and discover the region through the film “Travel Journal: In the Heart of the Parc naturel des Plaines de l’Escaut“.

Pic'orée

Sensory playground and barefoot path.

In this enclosed and completely secure outdoor space, a sensory awareness trail sparks curiosity and invites you to awaken your 5 senses to connect with the environment.
Tickle your toes on our barefoot path, featuring a series of 20 boxes filled with natural and unusual materials to experience.
For your comfort, a foot-washing station is available. Please bring a towel for your feet (also available at reception for €2.50).

Treetop promenade

A 50-meter trail at canopy level.

Gain some height! This footbridge allows you to rise 16 meters above the ground to immerse yourself in the foliage of birches, maples, and chestnut trees. Spanning 50 meters, this suspended promenade is enhanced with explanatory panels, providing insights into the surrounding flora and fauna. You can even listen to the birds using acoustic cones or QR codes.
